TruDee, my alter ego, is a manifestation of optimism, fearlessness, unconditional love and play. She was born in 2014 out of a dare to try on a hot pink onesie with a mullet wig in a San Diego thrift shop. She danced her way out of the dressing room, Long Island accent intact and hasn’t stopped since. She creates short physical dance comedy vignettes, which she uses to transform any space into a stage. Trudee, a straddler of genres, has performed in dance programs, circus cabaret evenings and house parties.

Donofrio Dance Company (DDC), a Brooklyn based contemporary dance company established in 2009 by Taylor Donofrio, seeks to build work that challenges viewers to examine today’s shifting experience of the present and our understanding of the human connection. DDC explores new approaches to the performance experience, and their work builds upon a heightened awareness for how audiences have evolved according to technology’s ability to deliver an immediate and transient experience.

As a 10-year-old boy in Brazil, Jelon Vieira began to study Capoeira, the Afro-Brazilian martial art that is central to his life philosophy. In the mid-1970s, after joining a Brazilian folk dance company, he went on tour to Europe. Soon after, he traveled to New York City, where he founded his own dance company. DanceBrazil has performed worldwide, sharing Brazil’s cultural history and stories of its communities. A Capoeira mestre, Vieira in 2007 founded Capoeira Luanda, which is dedicated to the teaching and practice of Capoeira. He is the recipient of an NEA National Heritage Fellowship, among other awards.

Molly Mingey is an artist and flight attendant based in Brooklyn. She makes dances from her ordinary experience of a situation. Her background is in contemporary dance, site-specific performance, and dance theater. Molly’s process is driven by her interpretation of her life and her love and curiosity of dancing bodies; underneath banality lies satire, subversion, and humor.

Luther Bangert is a juggler, a mover, and a street performer. In his work he navigates and challenges traditional ideas of juggling, virtuosity, and failure, by allowing patterns their fair share of spontaneity, incorporating musicality, and blurring the realms of subject and object.
