Virginie Mécène is the Director of Graham 2, Ms. Graham’s second company, and Program Director at the Martha Graham School. She is a former Principal Dancer with the Martha Graham Dance Company (1994- 2006) and Buglisi Dance. Her choreographic works have been presented nationally and internationally in venues such as New York City Center and The Joyce Theater in New York City, L’Auditori di Barcelona in Barcelona, and the Palais Garnier in Paris. Recent distinguished works include the solos Ekstasis, Revolt, and Immigrant, reimagined and choreographed based on Martha Graham’s lost solos. A native of France, she graduated from the University of Bourgogne with a Licence Professionnelle in Artistic and Cultural Management.
